^^The Desert War (Alpha v.1.0) by Eivind IV
^
^INFORMATION:
^- Play as the Axis only!
^- Whenever asked for Event change, save the game as 'Desert War.sav' (important!)
^ and load next part of the events with the 'Desert War.bat'. Reload the turn and play on.
^- Terrain is stackable, exept for Heights, AT Ditches and Barbed Wire.
^- Hills does not have defensive bonus.
^- Heights (Mountains), AT Ditches and Barbed Wire have 50 percent defensive bonus.
^- The 'infrastructure' is a mixture between civ roads and civ railroads,
^ depeding on real life level of infrastructure. They've been given a slightly
^ darker graphic so you can see where you'll get free movement.
^- The Qattara Depression is made up of ocean and pollution as an overlaying
^ terrain, effectively making it impassable (global warming is removed fromt the scen).
^- The pollution/ocean from Cairo to Alexandria is made to avoid familiar AI "wanderings".
^
^GAME HINT:
^1. In real life Rommel bypassed the Gazala line by going south and then push upwards.
^ To avoid a massacre, this manouvre would be smart here as well. Once Bir Hakeim falls,
^ you will 'enricle' the pocket behind the line. Followed by an assault on Gazala city
^ and the defensive line will collapse, allowing you to supply beyond the Gazala defenses.
^2. In this first thrust he also had to lay Tobruk under siege, as penetrating the
^ city's defensives proved too hard. This may be something to consider here as
^ well, and focus on the Suez Canal (i.e. Cairo) instead.
^3. Only the Rommel unit has the cunning to outmanouvre defensive units such as Bunkers.
^ But you may lose him, and that may decide the faith of the entire campaign, so wait for
^ artillery support for such assaults, or you can bomb them from the sky.
@end -- this line must be here!
